Field researchers of the czecho-slovak sales promotion agency Sales house s.r.o. questioned which traditions do we follow during Easter holiday. While both countries correctly considered the holiday as religious, we do differ a lot in our customs and traditions. While in the Czech republic, the most common custom is the egg painting (68%) Slovaks prefer to pour water on woman to assure they will be healthy the whole year (74%). We will also find some difference in Easter cuisine - baking the Easter lamb or crumpet is only typical to the Czechs. Slovaks prefer to prepare smoked ham. Some compliance can be found in the way how people spend their holiday. With 34% spring cleaning just slightly beats church visits.
The survey was conducted from 21. – 25. 3. 2013 by Sales House s.r.o. interviewers with randomly addressed peaople in shopping centers and retail chains in the Czech and Slovak republic. In total 403 people participated in the survey of which 205 in CZ and 198 in SK.
